Thanks to Linda Rutter and Kay Walker for attending the Dementia Friendly lunch on behalf of Resurrection Furniture recently where they presented a cheque for £1,000. Approximately 100 people attended and Kay and Linda gave out leaflets to those present.
Alton Town Council Mayor Ben Hamlin paid a visit to the Resurrection Furniture shop on Thursday 11th January.
The Mayor had a tour of the shop, including our furniture restoration and electrical testing area. We also took the opportunity to update the Mayor on grants that Resurrection Furniture have awarded over the last 6 months. All of these have been awarded to good causes in Alton and the surrounding area.
The Mayor kindly awarded certificates to Resurrection Furniture's longest serving volunteers. 16 people received awards, with each person being introduced by another volunteer, who told their stories and background. After the awards were handed out, there was a social event in the shop for the volunteers with tea, prosecco, sandwiches, cake and finally pizza.

Resurrection Furniture said goodbye to Ruth Randall with a farewell party in the shop. Ruth has been a trustee since 2019 with responsibility for pastoral care. Ruth's husband Gordon recently retired as vicar of Holybourne church, and they moved from Holybourne on the following day. Everyone at Resurrection Furniture wishes them well in their new life.
Resurrection Furniture has donated £5,000 to help St Michael’s Hospice to continue with their work in helping to support local people who have a life-limiting illness, are facing the end of life or experiencing bereavement.
St Michael’s dedicated team of nurses, doctors and therapists deliver free and compassionate end of life care and support. With less than 16% of their funds coming from the NHS, Resurrection Furniture felt that St Michael’s Hospice was such a worthy cause.
The money that Resurrection Furniture has donated will help St Michael’s Hospice to provide, to provide home visits, telephone calls, therapy sessions and treatments and care in a specialist unit.
Christine Griffiths from the Pink Place (Cancer Support Group) came to the shop to receive a cheque for £1000 from Resurrection Furniture.

The RF volunteers tea party was held on 3rd September in Jane and Robin Lees beautiful garden. All the volunteers and staff enjoyed the sunny weather sitting out in the garden eating a delicious tea. This was the opportunity for the Trustees to say thank you to everyone for making RF such a good place to work.
We welcomed Natasha Perrin as our new shop manager on 24th July. Natasha will be working 20 hours per week, usually Mondays to Thursdays. She will vary the days she works so as to meet all volunteers, at least from time to time.
Natasha writes about herself:
I’ve lived in Alton for almost 20 years, though I’m originally from Worcester.
I’m married to Graham, I have two grown up step daughters and three little step grand children and a rather lovely and bossy cat called Colditz. (It’s a long story regarding his name.)
I love going to the gym and I’m a fair-weather runner. I also enjoy spending my time being creative, including flower arranging (I did the flowers for both of my step daughters’ weddings), making and decorating cupcakes and making bunting and other crafts.
Most of my career has been in sales and marketing and I also spent a few years as a buyer. I’ve been involved with a lot of trade shows and have considerable experience in visual merchandising.
Mike beside his latest restoration. This is an early Victorian mahogany sideboard which needed some repairs and a good polish. A potential buyer has already expressed interest in it.
