Our Mission

Our Mission

Purpose of the charity

Resurrection Furniture is part of the Parish of the Resurrection Alton including St Lawrence, All Saints, St Peter and Holy Rood Churches.

In 2017 we brought our monthly furniture sale from our Parish Hall to the High Street and in 2022 opened our new larger shop at 21b.

We use the profit from selling used furniture and household goods to support many charities and needy causes in and around Alton.

Visitors can browse our large selection, get information about future Parish events and have time to chat with our friendly and caring volunteers

Guidance

& Support

We work with local people who have mental or physical issues or are without family and friends to help them achieve what others take for granted.

Relief of Hardship

in the Community

We currently work with local organisations to help people in need in the community. We offer donations or discounts on furniture or practical assistance as required often at short notice.

Helping our

Planet

By collecting and recycling furniture and items for the home we ensure fewer items are thrown away to be destroyed or end up as landfill. This saves CO2 and keeps serviceable furniture in use for longer.

Supporting Young

People

Provide support to young people and help them achieve a positive outcome from their education.

Training

We assist people to volunteer with us who are unable to find paid employment due to a disability or special need, giving them the experience to go on and become part of a paid work force.

Recent grants

In 2022 and early 2023 we gave a total of over £21,000 to nine organisations including:

The Parish of the Resurrection Youth Work, the Community Cupboard, Alton Stitchers, Alton College and Energy Alton.

New grants made in 2023 include:

 • £1,200 to Andrews Endowed Primary School to support pupils going on school trips
• £1,000 to Pink Place (a charity that provides support to those affected by cancer) so that it can meet once a week for a year.
• £5,000 to St. Michael's Hospice
